Professional / Client Meeting Information

Professional / Client Meetings: IN-PERSON

 Guidelines for Entrance into the Secure Facility:

  • Visitor shall have NO symptoms of COVID19 and NO temperature at time of entry.
    • If visitor meets above guidelines, they shall schedule an appointment via the link to the right. 
      • Attorneys shall provide BOTH a Valid form of ID (Example: Drivers License) and Valid Bar Card for validation to scjail@sanilaccounty.net
      • Visitor shall list requested clients' first and last name they wish to meet with in the notes section when scheduling the visit.
      • Visitor shall make an appointment with a 24-hour advance notice.
      • The standard block for an In-Person visit is 30 minutes
      • Visitor shall not go beyond their slotted time for the In-Person Visit.
        • If a longer time is needed, the visitor shall schedule back to back visit times when scheduling.
      • Visitor shall plan to follow all standard guidelines for entrance into the secure facility.

Professional / Client court hearings: VIA ZOOM

If you are an agency wishing to hold a court case VIA Zoom and meet the below guidelines, click the link to the right. 

  • Available to all courts wishing to handle court cases not within Sanilac County. 
  • Federal Inmate cases must have approval from AUSA prior to scheduling. Attorneys must email  Amy.Godlewski@usdoj.gov and she will forward to the AUSA for approval. 
  • Court Staff shall list requested clients' first and last name that the court hearing is with in the notes section when scheduling the visit. 
  • Court Staff must also include the H323 Dial up # along with the Zoom Meeting ID in the notes section when scheduling. (To have Polycom capabilities, you must upgrade your Zoom account if you have not already done so.) The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office is not responsible for host errors in scheduling. *Host errors in scheduling may subject the host to a lost visit time.  
  • Appointments shall be made with a 24-hour advance notice.
  • The standard block for a visit will be 30 minutes.
  • Court shall not go beyond the time slotted for the meeting.
  • If a longer time is needed, the Court shall schedule back to back meeting times when scheduling.
  • Courts needing to provide writ paperwork or inmates paperwork for signatures can forward their request to scjail@sanilaccounty.net. 
  • If you wish to visit your client on video, visit smartinmate.com and schedule a privileged visitation appointment.

Professional / Client Phone Calls

 (Includes Attorney, Probation, DHHS, Etc. )

  

Effective 11/18/2023, Sanilac County Jail will no longer allow for attorney phone calls in a private setting, similar to Pre-Covid. Inmates will place any calls to their attorney at their leisure. All attorney’s shall provide their email and phone number to Sanilac County Jail regarding their client. Once provided, all calls, visits and correspondence via Smart Communications will be privileged (unviewable by anyone other than the client and inmate) Visit smartinmate.com to setup a user account.


  • Regarding Probation and DHHS matters, please continue to schedule calls via the link to the right. (These are not in a private setting)
  • Attorney’s shall provide BOTH a Valid form of ID and a Valid Bar Card for validation to scjail@sanilaccounty.net. prior to a call being added to the privileged list. 
  • Probation/DHHS shall list requested clients' first and last name they wish to speak with in the notes section when scheduling the call. (Note the inmate will call you, so we must be provided the phone number for them to call as well)
  • Probation/DHHS shall make an appointment with a 24-hour advance notice.
    • The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office cannot predict emergencies that pop up or an inmate that refuses to make a call at the scheduled time. (In-Person visits are welcomed to assure needed conversation)
